Ukraine suggests it, Gazprom negotiate gas transportation price
MOSCOW, Dec 31 (PRIME) – Ukrainian energy company Naftogaz Ukrainy has suggested it and Russian gas giant Gazprom hold talks because Kiev has adopted new rules for setting gas transportation prices, Naftogaz said in a statement on Thursday.
Naftogaz’s Business Development Director Yuri Vitrenko said on Wednesday that the company raised the tariff for the Russian gas transit to Europe, which used to be at U.S.$2.7 per 1,000 cubic meters of gas transported for 100 kilometers. Vitrenko did not mention any figures, but Ukraine has previously said that it wants to raise the price to $5.
“Naftogaz, as a responsible partner, suggested Gazprom hold talks on the matter,” the statement said.
